I LOVE Great Blue Herons. Here in SW Ohio, we rarely see one but every now and then one appears and yesterday, as I was driving through our park, I spotted one on the edge of a lagoon. I only had my camera phone but at least I was able to capture him, what a beautiful, graceful bird. He tolerated me for about 10 minutes before he flew to the other side to ditch me.

If you have the opportunity to take a class with her, I suggest you jump on it. I've never taken a class where the teacher gave us everything she was using in a kit.... it was wonderful. She is very sweet, very talented, you'll have a great time!
Watercolor
This is from a class I took with Sue St. John. We really had very little time to work in class so I had to do 90% of it at home..... which was OK.... it was a class to learn the technique and since I learn by watching best, I was all about watching her work her magic while I absorbed it.
I'm playing with this technique on a much smaller scale... 20" x 36" is much too large for me to do a student project.
