Chance Encounter

I LOVE Great Blue Herons. Here in SW Ohio, we rarely see one but every now and then one appears and yesterday, as I was driving through our park, I spotted one on the edge of a lagoon. I only had my camera phone but at least I was able to capture him, what a beautiful, graceful bird. He tolerated me for about 10 minutes before he flew to the other side to ditch me.
This is a class project I did with Mary Ann Beckwith......it was a lot of fun... geometric designs are something I am not fond of but many people like them..........for me, they are too hard, too defined.......but again, it was all about learning the technique.

Sue St. John

This is one of Sue's paintings.... pictures do not do her work justice, you really should see it in person.

If you have the opportunity to take a class with her, I suggest you jump on it. I've never taken a class where the teacher gave us everything she was using in a kit.... it was wonderful. She is very sweet, very talented, you'll have a great time!

Watercolor

This is from a class I took with Sue St. John. We really had very little time to work in class so I had to do 90% of it at home..... which was OK.... it was a class to learn the technique and since I learn by watching best, I was all about watching her work her magic while I absorbed it.
I'm playing with this technique on a much smaller scale... 20" x 36" is much too large for me to do a student project.

My own blog at long last

I've enjoyed reading the many art blogs and have spent many delightful afternoons and evenings with them. I decided it was time to work less and play with art supplies a little more.....even toying with getting my own etsy site down the road.

So, for now, I'm learning to blog.........really wish I knew how to make this site pretty and interesting but at the same time I'm amazed that I've gotten to this point.

Down the road I'll learn to make pretty, right now I'm just thrilled to be a blogger at long last.
